Charity Annual Gala 2016

BLACKLOTUSPROJECT was tasked with a full design and delivery service for the Serendip Children’s Home Annual Charity Gala 2016. As a charity, their brief was threefold; design an immersive, awareness raising dinner & dance, deliver value for money for 500 paying ticketed guests, maximise donations, all while working within tight budget constraints. In short, a six-hour event packed with immersive, interactive, awareness-raising fun!

EVENT DESIGN

We felt the culinary journey was central to the success of the event and the team designed a menu of Sri Lankan food, in resonance with the country in which Serendip operates; traditional ‘short eats’ to start, followed by a buffet main course and desserts.

The entertainment design was a particularly interesting challenge, balancing modern and traditional staged dance acts, theatrical performances and musicians as well as speeches, raffle draw and DJ set to finish.

Venue design was kept co-ordinated with the charity core colours of fuchsia and purple. With dressed tables, floristry, full linen service, lighting and informational, interactive displays of Serendip’s work in Sri Lanka, the venue was sumptuously designed to impress.

EVENT MANAGEMENT

On-the-day management of the event was overseen by our event manager and a team of 30. From dressing the venue to coordinating the waiting and bar staff, cloakroom management, door and raffle ticket sales, kitchen management and food service, stage management and clear up was undertaken by the team at BLACKLOTUSPROJECT

CELEBRITY / VIP ENGAGEMENT

Jean Lambert MEP was invited as a guest speaker as well as the local mayor, councillors and other politicos.

``BLACKLOTUSPROJECT dealt with all aspects of the event production and technology on the evening. With only four hours to set up for 500 seated guests, they did an amazing job and the evening was impressive, immersive and fun-filled. There is no doubt that the food was exceptional and that the quality went far beyond what most guests received at corporate events. Everybody was delighted with the event and there has been a lot of praise for the venue. The service was excellent before, during and after the event and we would highly recommend them for any corporate or charity event that you may be planning.``
