These prices are taken from lists generated from eBay auctions. The $23 low you saw was likely an auction that had a lot of time left on it. The price itself is a modified average that excludes any prices more than the standard deviation from the median. With a median of $42 and a standard deviation of $7, that $23 would have been excluded from the price calculation.

Ideally only completed auctions would be used to calculate these prices. Since I simply pull the prices from Magic Traders, I don't have control over which auctions are included in their calculations.

Magic Traders prices lag because they are using a sliding MA. Their price lists are great for pulling out on people with cards that are rising because you can show one price knowing it's worth more. With a STD of $7 it's fair to say that most of the eBay auctions ending are around $50 (or most likely $200 for a playset).

The low price can also be accounted for by a seller who was using the Magic Traders price guide and didn't look to see if it was selling for more. He could have also been charging abnormally high shipping.

This chart is perfectly consistant with the intent of this site, to provide trend data for cards over time.

It's in M11! I wonder if that will increase or decrease price.

$37.87 -0.12 (-0.32%) today when the reprint was announced. Let's see how the price will change.

Pre-orders are at $34.99, so guessing it will at least go down to that...
